Missing in Action: Clean Energy RD&D for the Building Sector

The building sector is being left out in the cold when it comes to clean energy innovation. As Hoyu Chong writes for RealClearEnergy, it is long past time for Congress and the administration to rectify this by taking bold action to accelerate energy innovation for buildings.

While favored sectors like transportation and power production are getting showered with investments in cutting-edge technologies like hydrogen, carbon dioxide removal, and high-capacity batteries, buildings are getting mostly leftovers and hand-me-downs like tax incentives for energy-efficient windows and appliances. So, it should come as little surprise that greenhouse gas emissions from buildings have been rising steadily even as emissions from other sectors have been falling.
