Comments to the FAA on its Proposed Rules for Supersonic Testing

ITIF has filed comments with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding its draft policy changes for testing of supersonic aircraft. The proposed rulemaking would streamline the application procedure for special flight authorizations for supersonic aircraft by clarifying the information submitted to the FAA. ITIF argues that FAA should use this opportunity to adopt a framework that enables commercial supersonic innovation and bolsters U.S. competitiveness. The filing also argues that the FAA should collect and publish environmental data from supersonic tests.
