Liberals and the Science of GMOs

Opposing science is a surefire way to look foolish, says Randolph Court in Washington Monthly. Yet many conservatives deny overwhelming evidence about climate change, and many liberals join them in stubbornly resisting genetically improved foods, despite scientific consensus about their safety. This selective belief in science is rooted in people's lack of trust in proxies such as government and industry. It's time to reject such biases and embrace the roles of both government and business in scientific and technological innovation.
