Comcast Ruling: Now What?
What's next for net neutrality? Just weeks after the DC Circuit Court’s ruling in Comcast v. FCC, the agency announced May 5 plans to expand its regulatory power over the Internet. While presented as a compromise, or “third way,” approach, the proposal has drawn criticism and raised serious questions about how far the FCC can go. Could the FCC’s proposal lead to costly and protracted legal wrangling? Will Congress have to step in and provide clear direction to the FCC? How much will the effort to define its authority detract from implementing the National Broadband Plan? Whatever course policy makers take it could have huge implications for the Internet as we know it. A panel of experts will discuss the options at an event co-sponsored by ITIF and Free State Foundation. Join us for an up-to-date examination of the issues.
