ITIF Welcomes the National Spectrum Strategy Implementation Plan

March 12, 2024

WASHINGTON—President Biden released in 2023 the Presidential Memorandum on Modernizing United States Spectrum Policy and Establishing a National Spectrum Strategy to determine the best uses of wireless technologies. Following the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) announcement of the implementation plan of the National Spectrum Strategy, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), the leading think tank for science and technology policy, released the following statement from Joe Kane, ITIF’s director of broadband and spectrum policy:

The implementation plan starts the National Spectrum Strategy off on the right foot by providing a detailed scope of work and solid timelines. Importantly, the plan keeps NTIA in the driver’s seat and looks broadly at all possible ways to enhance commercial spectrum access. Together, the envisioned studies, reforms, and technological developments are ingredients to a more productive spectrum future. NTIA must maintain its leadership to shepherd the many moving parts of this strategy to completion.
