Greg Farmer

Greg Farmer is Vice President of Government Affairs for Qualcomm. In this capacity, Farmer leads Qualcomm’s Washington, DC office and manages the legislative agenda for the Company with respect to the federal government and the United States Congress.

Prior to joining Qualcomm in October of 2009, Farmer served as the Senior Vice President for Global Government Relations for Nortel. In this role, Farmer was responsible for working with U.S. government leaders and governing bodies around the globe, coordinating the company’s positions on international trade, communications and high tech, tax and other issues.

Prior to returning to Nortel in 1996, Farmer was nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Under Secretary of Commerce. He convened the first-ever Ministerial that helped map a regional economic strategy for the western hemisphere and used technology early to establish a worldwide website providing information on U.S. destinations, products and services to more than 35 million worldwide residents.

Mr. Farmer served as Florida’s Secretary of Commerce with responsibility for promoting a comprehensive economic development program for the state. He had oversight of international trade, industry development, tourism, business assistance as well as sports, film and motion picture development. Farmer fostered a market-driven, customer-focused, measurable approach to government in Florida. He privatized traditional government functions and incorporated public-private partnerships that were later copied by other States.

Mr. Farmer serves on the Board of the Telecommunications Industry Association and the Center for National Policy. He also serves on the Board of Ford’s Theatre in Washington, DC and he is a member of the Capitol Committee for the U.S. Capitol Historical Society. He has had articles published over the past ten years in a number of media outlets, including Vital Speeches.

Mr. Farmer is a graduate of Florida International University and earned his master's degree from Florida State University. He has been selected as an Outstanding Alum by both universities.
