Ahti Heinla

Ahti Heinla is the current CEO, CTO at Starship Technologies. He guides the engineering team and develops the architecture of Starship’s robotic platform. Ahti has always had a passion for innovative technology, having designed his own computer program at the age of ten. You can find him the happiest when he lifts up his laptop and shoots another module of code. In 2013, he designed a robot to compete in a NASA contest to find a ‘soil sample retrieval robot’ for Mars missions. Armed with that experience, Ahti and his co-founder Janus Friis, realized there was a huge opportunity to disrupt the delivery industry – an industry that hadn’t been revolutionized by technology yet. They set to work creating a last-mile robotic delivery solution, which is when Starship Technologies was born. Fast forward six years and Starship is now completing thousands of autonomous deliveries per day, operating in five countries around the world. Ahti was a Founding engineer and Chief Technical Architect of Skype plus multiple other startups.
