In August 2013, ITIF Senior Analyst Matthew Stepp took part in the Millennial Trains Project, a cross-country train tour of seven cities in ten days where each participant undertook their own unique project. Stepp’s project, Energy Innovation Across America, aimed to bring the stories and perspectives of energy innovators from across the country back to Washington where energy policy gridlock is at an all-time high. In this introductory piece at The Energy Collective, Stepp summarizes why this project was important and introduces the four articles covering some of the major highlights gained from the trip.
