Steve Norton to Head Communications at the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation
Washington, D.C.– Steve Norton, a former reporter and speech writer, will join the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation as communications director January 25, ITIF President Robert D. Atkinson, Ph.D., announced today.
“Steve Norton will bring exceptional communications skills and experience to ITIF,”
said Atkinson. “Just as important, he believes passionately in ITIF’s mission to bolster country’s capacity for innovation and global competitiveness.”
Norton will work with Atkinson in raising awareness and promoting discussion of ITIF’s many policy analyses and proposals among policy makers and the general public and publicize ITIF’s frequent public events.
“Rob Atkinson and his colleagues offer creative and pragmatic policies that will lead to economic opportunities and help us tackle challenges in areas from energy to transportation to intellectual property protection,” said Norton. “I look forward to helping ITIF contribute to development of smart public policies.”
For the last two years Norton served as senior communications advisor at the Law Offices of Stewart and Stewart, a distinguished international trade and government relations firm. Immediately before joining Stewart and Stewart, he served as speechwriter and assistant press secretary for U.S. Trade Representatives Susan Schwab and Rob Portman. His service at USTR came after a 10-year career as a journalist at Congressional Quarterly, National Journal’s CongressDaily and other publications where he covered taxes, trade, and other economic policy issues.
Earlier in his career, Norton was a legislative assistant for U.S. Reps. Terry L. Bruce (D-IL) and Barbara B. Kennelly, (D-CT), and worked as a paid campaign aide. He earned
