Center for Data Innovation Sponsors Second Annual Data Innovation Day
WASHINGTON (Dec. 12, 2013) – With the rise of ubiquitous internet use, ever more powerful sensors and advances in computer science, data has become a key driver for new business development, productivity growth, improved government operations and greater societal wellbeing. To explore the emerging opportunities in this field, the Center for Data Innovation, an affiliate of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, is sponsoring the second annual Data Innovation Day on January 23, 2014.
Data Innovation Day will feature activities hosted by organizational partners across the country and around the globe, including panel discussions, hackathons, data releases, and other celebrations of the power of information. The day will be anchored by a policy conference hosted in Washington, DC, which will investigate the reforms needed to improve the implementation of data innovation in the public and private sector, while also highlighting best practices that can serve as a model for businesses and governments across the country.
“Data-driven innovation is quickly changing the face of countless industries from healthcare to agriculture,” notes Daniel Castro, director of the Center for Data Innovation. “Data Innovation Day showcases these global changes and provides policymakers with a better understanding of the potential benefits of data.”
The inaugural Data Innovation Day was held on January 24, 2013 and featured bicoastal events and distinguished partners including Google, Microsoft, Data.gov, Yelp, the Cities of Palo Alto and Philadelphia and a wide range of additional industry leaders, startups, nonprofits, academic groups, and government institutions.
