THINK! The Innovation Knowledge Foundation

Roberto Masiero is the President of THINK!, The Innovation Knowledge Foundation, a think tank based in Milan, Italy, and operating in Europe and emerging markets. Roberto spent most of his career with International Data Corporation (IDC), the leading worldwide ICT market research company, where he held the position of President IDC International until September 2009. In this capacity, he was acting as the high-level executive contact for IDC’s worldwide customers, leading IDC's conference business and managing IDC’s worldwide government relations.

A long-term IT industry veteran, Roberto joined IDC in 1986 after holding various sales, marketing and strategies positions with Xerox and the Olivetti Group. After becoming Managing Director of IDC Italy, IDC UK, IDC France and IDC Germany, he was appointed President of IDC EMEA and was responsible for 450 employees and 32 local offices. Roberto was also responsible for starting up the new IDC Conference Business line, which contributed to making IDC a global leader in the IT event business with more than 300 conferences reaching 45,000 users every year. In the last few years, Roberto focused on the themes of innovation, e-government, ICT4D and emerging markets. He retired from IDC in September, 2009.  In November, 2009, he announced the foundation of The Innovation Group, a management consulting boutique focusing on innovating business and organizations through ICT.

In July, 2010, Roberto, together with a group of prestigious representatives of economy, finance, academia, law and the ICT industry, founded THINK! The Innovation Knowledge Foundation. THINK! is an international foundation for IT and development--an independent, non-profit think tank to identify, formulate and promote public policies that advance technological innovation and productivity, and that help policymakers better understand the nature of the new innovation economy and the types of public policies needed to drive innovation, productivity and broad-based prosperity both locally and internationally.

Roberto graduated with a degree in Political Economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He also attended the Advanced Financial Management Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau and the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School.
