Genie Barton is Vice President and Director of the National Advertising Review Council/Council of Better Business Bureau’s Online Interest-Based Advertising Accountability Program. The goal of the Accountability Program is to bring all members of the advertising industry into compliance with the Principles. The Accountability Program seeks to achieve compliance by investigating potentially non-compliant entities based on data from its technology platform, research, or stakeholder complaints, working with the company to achieve compliance, issuing public decisions regarding compliance investigations, and referring entities that do not come into compliance to the appropriate government agency.
In her previous position as Vice President & General Counsel of USTelecom, Ms. Barton advocated for large, mid-size and small broadband service providers, where her focus was on the critical issues of privacy, online advertising, broadband classification, network management, and consumer protection.
